Zombieland Reviews and Ratings

Great fun for fans of horror/zombie films.
Though I have to say that while both Harrelson & Eisenberg are great and the film was pretty consistantly ammusing...Bill Murray's 10 minutes of screen time was by far the high point of the film.

rule #32... enjoy the little things

Way better then I thought it would be. A little pointless at times. Shoulda been made about 10 years ago, if that makes sense. Hoping zombie movies go away for awhile cause Hollywood and all these so called "independent" movies have "beating zombies into the ground", pun intended...( read more). When people get that Bill Murry and zombies are cool, they are no longer cool IMO, as much as I hate to say it. Yeah I am "that guy" on this one.

If you like zombie films & comedy then this is perfect for you ! The whole cast did a great job, the effects are surprisingly realistic... I honestly can't think of anything bad about the film. Highly recomended !

Shawn of the Dead comparisons are inevitable; but this is a whole other kind of zombie. The comedy is so slickly executed, plenty of smarts and wit and genuine chemistry between the entire cast mark this as more than just a run of the mill zom-com. Highly recommended.

one of the best zombie movies to date, fast funny and smart.

America's take on "Shaun of the Dead" is a knockout! Ruben Fleischer's Rom-Zom-Com [his FIRST feature!!] resembles "Fight Club" in tone with beautifully drawn characters, great editing and pitch-perfect performances. This great cast bring so much warmth and life to their roles wi...( read more)th many laugh-out-loud moments and endlessly quotable dialogue. My only quibble, the Bill Murray cameo felt misplaced and clunky. That said, the eye-popping opening credits, done with optical flow retiming [a smart-ass term for slow-motion] sets the pace for this remarkable action comedy. Just make sure you stay after the closing credits for a Bill Murray out-take!

    Very funny film.
I usually promt that Hollywood destroys movies when they put love in all their films. But this movie actually is better with the sweet little love story that is in it

Shaun Of The Dead is the ultimate zombie horror comedy but this movie comes pretty close to equalling it. A deadly virus has devastated the US and now only zombies roam the land apart from a handful of survivors. Columbus and Tallahassee along with 2 girls Wichita and Little Rock...( read more) travel across country in order to go to a theme park in California where it is believed they'll have sanctuary from the undead. Along the way they stop off at a famous comedian's house. I won't spoil who the person is. The guy is hilarious in a cameo role as himself. What I loved about this movie was the perfect blend of thrills, spills, gore, fun and plenty of laughs. The two male leads are perfect, bouncing off each other so well. This is a movie that you do not want to miss, it's awesome.

Movie: A very nice comedy-horror. This movie definately suprised me. I wasnt expecting much, but was suprised at how much i enjoyed seeing zombies being splattered. For those who are faint-of-heart, this movie is not that scary and has quite a few comedic moments.

Zombieland counts with a very talented cast but it isn`t among the funniest movies of the year. Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin are among the best young talents and if you include Woody Harrelson`s experience and a cameo from the extremely funny Bill Murray then ...( read more)you would expect a lot more from this movie. Don`t get me wrong, I enjoyed this film, it had some very funny moments and funny dialogues, but I was expecting much more from it because of all the hype coming from the critics. I wouldn`t include Zombieland in the horror genre, it isn`t scary and it doesn`t try to be either. It`s more of a satire on zombie movies like Shaun of the Dead was. Actually, first time director Ruben Fleischer said he was inspired to make this movie after watching Shaun of the Dead. It still has some action, gore, and good special effects, but the main ingredient in this film is the comedy and you wouldn`t expect less from these actors. When you have a zombie get killed by a falling piano from a building you know you can`t take the violence seriously. One of the things I enjoyed the most in this film was the dialogue. Taking a phrase from Harrelson`s character, Tallahassee, and rephrasing it I would say: ¨[this movie] totally blows! .... my mind. Just fun for the whole family.¨

Jesse Eisenberg, who recently was in another comedy - Adventureland, plays Columbus one of the few survivors in a world where pretty much everyone has turned into a zombie. He has survived because he lives by what he calls survival rules which are displayed throughout the movie while the action takes place. The film is narrated by Columbus. Eisenberg plays his ussual self and he reminds me a lot of Micheal Cera. Columbus meets Tallahassee (Woody Harelson), a fearless zombie killer who has a weakness for twinkies (or as they call them in Mexico: el submarino) and will get into danger just to get his hands on them. Columbus and Tallahassee form an unlikely duo and decide to take a road trip. During their trip they encounter Wichita (Emma Stone known for her role in Superbad) and her sister Little Rock (Abigail Breslin, My Sister`s Keeper) who happen to be con artists and take their possesions. The four end up together despite having trust issues and not wanting to become involved with each other, which could serve as a satire on American society where you find neighbors trying to keep a distance from each other. The highlight of the movie is when they decide to visit a celebrity`s mansion and have an encounter with him, but I will not give any more of the movie away.

Overall this movie works as a comedy, it is a satire on zombie movies which have bombarded Hollywood over the recent years in the same way vampires are nowadays. Don`t go into this movie expecting horror, because this movie is 95% comedy. There are several funny lines and at less than 90 minutes the movie is short enough for you to enjoy it. The survival rules were pretty funny and the scene in which Columbus narrates his encounter with his hot neighbor who almost ends up eating him was also hilarious. Despite all this, I still think there were much funnier movies out this year like The Hangover, World`s Greatest Dad, Adventureland, and I Love You, Man. Anyways this movie still is a lot of fun and one you will enjoy. My favorite zomby movie (but I ain`t much of a zombie fan so it ain`t saying much). To end this review, I would like to quote one of the many funny lines in the film: ¨In those moments where you're not quite sure if the undead are really dead, dead, don't get all stingy with your bullets. I mean, one more clean shot to the head, and this lady could have avoided becoming a human Happy Meal. Woulda... coulda... shoulda.¨

Let me start by saying 'Zombieland' might have been better served as a video game.

I definitely feel that there was a pretty good film in the idea, but any hope of one was lost in the process of making a film with the intent of pleasing such a wide audience. 'Zombieland' is basi...( read more)cally a cliché-riddled, teen drama story arch, transplanted into a zombie-apocalypse setting, with a hint of black comedy. This is a big ask for Fleischer, although not many have done better. From this, 'Zombieland' is a film with no tension, characters void of any substance and a see-through plot. Importantly, the core of any drama or attachment in the film is about zombies and human relationships, but neither of them are presented particularly well.

All that aside, the one-liners, gross-out laughs and gore will manage to hold most viewers through to an innocuous finish. For those who have second thoughts, I'd recommend staying at home and hiring out 'Shaun of the Dead'.

and finally, bcoz of this movie, I think I'll skip playing in amusement park for a while... hehe

    happy watching guys!
