  Zoom is a cross between X-Men, Sky High and The Incredibles but isn't anywhere near as good as either of them. The script is awful. The story had a lot going for it but it concentrates to much on less important aspects rather than what the film is all about. it's nice to see Chevy Chase again, shame it was in this though. Watch Tim Allen closely, you can just see him dying of shame in every scene.

  OK there's not much to say here, this is yet ANOTHER superhero comic book adventure for the younger viewer. I'm getting sick of them simply because they are all the same, especially these kiddie entries which offer nothing new to the genre. This is usual story line, usual kiddie cliches, unfunny aging actors, useless kiddie actors, cheesy cgi and crap superhero ideas all round. Joins the ranks of 'Sky High' and is in fact virtually the same movie. This genre has been drained of all originality and basic concepts, lets put these family fun superhero's to rest please, for gods sake no more. All these spoof superhero films are a rip off from an old mid eighties comic classic which still goes strong in the US by the name of 'The Tick', 'Mystery Men' took the original idea from 'The Tick' and from there it has exploded with so many superhero spoofs or parodies. This is light and fluffy with absolutely zero to offer in terms of originality anywhere, kids will probably like but adults be warned.

  <i>"They're going to save the world . . . as long as they're home for dinner"</i> Former superhero Jack Shepard, (also known as Captain Zoom), is called back to work to transform an unlikely group of ragtag kids into a new generation of superheroes at a privacy Academy and save the world from certain destruction. The project holds an audition of would-be members, most of whom possess useless or disgusting powers. In the end, Dylan, a 17-year-old boy who can turn invisible Summer, a 16-year-old girl with telekinetic powers Tucker, a 12-year-old boy with the power to enlarge any part of his body Cindy, a 6-year-old girl with super strength. "Zoom" is a kids' superhero flick based on the novel "Zoom's Academy" written by Jason Lethcoe. In it, Tim Allen stars as a has-been superhero who's tasked to train four young superheroes to battle a nemesis. With that, you pretty much know what to expect. Unfortunately, that's all. While the film has all what comprises a prototype of this milked-dry genre, the experience is overtly familiar and dull. Jack Shephard (Allen... nope, not Matthew Fox) was Captain Zoom, a superhero who can travel at superhuman speeds, and one of the members of the military-sponsored superhero group "Team Zenith." But he has since lost his powers after a military experiment has gone awry that also has his teammates killed. 30 years later Jack is brought back to train four youngsters with superpowers when a new malevolent threat from the past emerges. First of all, the script of Adam Rifkin and David Berenbaum doesn't attain new heights with their blunt dealing of a theme that's been done more excellently with "The Incredibles" and "Sky High." And director Peter Hewitt ("Garfield"), who clearly isn't exactly a master storyteller himself, has little to work from with such a dull and hollow material. All of the characters are perfunctory parts rather than humans portraying genuine conflicts. Also, for a film that's called "Zoom," the film drags: it lacks a sufficient amount of action. We're supposed to see the kids train, but all we're mostly shown are unfunny attempts at slapstick humor that the filmmakers assume would elicit laughters from the little tots among the audience (uhm, Courteney Cox tripping down and Chevy Chase getting slime on his face, anyone?). What constitutes for training involve at the most paint balls and a drive-thru chaos at a Wendy's restaurant. Yes, there's the climactic fight sequence at the end but it's too quick, unexciting, and not enough by a mile for a film that has terribly dragged along. Ultimately, what transpires is a terribly unfunny movie that wears out its welcome faster than its main character runs.

  Too much time is devoted to training these superhero kids and not enough battles in the real world. Their powers were odd-ball. The jokes about their costumes and names were good. I laughed at their cheap-O robot Mr. Pibb and the flying saucer drive-through visit. Chevy Chase made a fun gadget scientist. Decent premise with Tim Allen as a loser superhero, but more actual battles needed to be written into the story.

  Kind of weak. It really is for kids and the bare bones plot shows. There really isn't anything going on in the flick for about the first half and they rely on showing a few super powers here and there to keep your attention. Tim Allen is a little weak here and you can tell he would rather be doing something else with his time. The final scene of the movie is a little rushed and the fx aren't really that impressive. In the end it's not much of a movie. Go see Sky High instead.

  Great family and laughs of superheroes film since <I>Sky High</i>. Chevy Chase is so hilarious that makes me laugh when he's trapped in his 'Outdoor Survival Simulation' room where a fake skunk gives out a foul-smelling fluid onto his face.

  This is another "Superhero" movie, as we've been seeing a lot lately, and compared with many others, this one is not up to par with them.<p>The story is nothing original. A team of superheroes needs to be assembled in a few days before a super villain comes to earth. Sound familiar? In this case the team is comprised of young kids and teens, which in turn is who this movie was definitely aimed towards. It is full of funny and simple jokes, which can be pretty funny at times, yet the story seemed to drag, especially at the beginning.</p><p>The CG isn't anything spectacular by any means, but it fits right in with this type of movie. The wind tunnel created at the end by Tim Allen's character turned out pretty nice in my opinion. What really was disappointing about this film was the lack of action and fighting between the heroes and the villain. In fact, the main villain doesn't even show up until the last 10 minutes of the film. The rest of the movie deals with the training of the team to prepare for this battle.</p><p>The acting isn't too bad. Tim Allen is his usual self, as we have seen him in many movies like this. Ryan Newman was pretty impressive as the adorable 6 year old "Princess," but the best acting in this film actually comes from Courtney Cox who plays a geeky, clumsy, scientist. She fit perfectly and her glasses were HUGE. Chevy Chase also puts on a nice comedic performance as well.</p><p>When all is said and done, if you're into childish superhero stories or have young kids to entertain then pick this up. Otherwise just move along, unless you've got 80 minutes to kill, which is about how short this movie is.

  Imagine a film that mixed The Incredibles with Sky High. How brilliantly great would that be? This is not that film, although it badly wants to be. Four teenagers with obvious powers - cute 6 year old girl has super-strength - are all outcasts and find themselves, and then Tim Allen remembers what it once meant to be a hero, and Chevy Chase and Courtney Cox fall over a lot, and then it turns out that Courtney has magical rainbow breath, and Tims evil brother returns from another dimension and Tim finds his powers and makes his brother good again, and the two teenagers fall in love and realise what family truly means even though they are completely ostracised from their own families of who we never see anyway. I'll admit that I didn't hate this film, but there's also nothing here to recommend this over many other similiar and infinitely better films.

  Starts out with good potential, and then totally flunks. Not enough action. Big problem is solved pretty easily, and not reccomended by me.
