Hounddog/Dakota's rape

Hounddog/Dakota's rape

Posted by xpsychogrl 1017 days ago
Some people are protesting the release of the upcoming movie Hounddog, since Dakota Fanning's character gets raped in one scene. I think it is obscene that critics are attacking this decision. Dakota, herself, has said she feels comfortable with how they shot the scene. Besides, her mother, her agent, and many others have secured an enviornment where it is safe for her to say when to stop, or when she feels uncomfortable. I believe, that the people who accuse and who critisize this, do not really care about Dakota's well-being. Since the scene has been shot already, it is too late to do anything about it. People need to just leave Dakota alone. She is old enough to understand her actions. Maybe the ones who are bothered by this should get the entire story. They should, first, view the movie and then, maybe, they will see that the rape scene was done tastefully and will stop attacking Dakota and her family. Dakota isn't a little girl anymore. And people should stop their stupidity.

Good grief people. Whats really wrong is actually raping a teenager. This is a film, perhaps meant to aim focus on the monstrosity of exactly that subject matter. I do not know, as I haven't the foggiest what the film is about. Anyways, I'm glad your appalled by rape, but your barking up the wrong tree. It's a movie.

And to all those who don't like it because Dakota is such a nice little girl, and she was so cute in some movie and has the most adorable blue eyes. Thats just laughable.

Dakota Fanning is not a little girl, of course. But even people much older then her still need some wisdom shown. I wish she wouldn't do a rape scene, but that is her choice. I hope she won't become like all those other actress's out there, doing lots of nude scenes and all, it's really disgusting the way women well...are so immodest!

I agree with BWELBORN, if it was okay with the parents and Dakota, then it should be fine. I also agree that I'm not so sure any "rape" seen can be "tastefully done" because rape is such a horrible action within itself. I do know that in an interview (shoot me because I ain't got the source) Dakota said that she was all for the rape seen, because it is a real life serious thing that occurs all the time, and it will raise awareness.

To be honest, I'm not really a Dakota "fan", but I hope that she doesn't do more stuff like that, or anything close to sex, until she is older, much older... : P And I sorta agree with what xpsychogrl said, but Okay so Dakota isn't a LITTLE girl anymore, but she is still a girl and not a woman, and that doesn't make it right. Just like the rape of any girl, or any woman for that matter...

I think if she wants to do this and isn't bothered by it then its fine. Plus if her parents and agent have made it a secured enviorment then it shouldn't be bad. She's a big girl and I think she can take care of herself plus that's just what makes her a good actress taking on challenging roles.

if she felt comfortable with the scene, then thats ok, dakota is the only one that would really know if it was ok because she was the one in the position...

I do not believe that there is a way to do a rape scene tasteful. But if her parents thought that it was a necessary scene and she was comfortable with it, then it is noone else's bussiness.

  • Odd. I wish Dakota Fanning had said no. Raping is horrible and digusting. Hopefully she won't do anymore.

  • Funny how they throw this in the news, but had she just been 4 years older (At the age of 17) they wouldn't worry about it at all. She acts like an adult about this situation, why can't everyone else?

  • although i dont agree with the directors decision to pur her in that situation it was her decision to go on with it and her parents and everyone were there.Even though its a movie they should not have made her get raped especially when she is so young and should not be opened up to this.I might consider seeing the movie but before i knew this it looked like a great movie now im thinking on the fact of if i am going to see it this is only because of this article

  • I think she is a awesome actor, she can make her own choices, all shes trying to do is help make a good movie that alot of people critizes would preobably still think its a good movie even with that part, because thats just how people are... everyone should just leave her alone

  • Wow that certainly is irritating...people will protest a movie because it has a rape scene, but I bet not one of them has ever done anything to try and stop rape in real life...if anything they should support the scene because it will bring attention to something that happens everyday in REAL life. People need to realize that the movies are Not Real...worry about rape vicitms, not a rape scene...

  • its up to her what she wants to do now. shes done acting where she plays a sweet and innocent child, like in I Am Sam for example, and played them brilliant. By staring in this role she shows she is capeable of opening her options and would there fore be apporached for more varied roles. People are more scared of what other people think and what they would judge rather than therself`s oppinion. She obviously felt comfortable participating in that role, otherwise she wouldnt have accepted it.

  • Yeah of course "lets all protest it cause chilcren never get raped in our beautiful world" huh? fucking idiots. Christ that sorta shit annoys me. Its not like she is some junked up hardcore porn actress who has no idea what is going on. And if you protest a movie showing something like this then you are basically saying to ignore this sort of thing when it happens for real. "Lets pretend it doesnt go on. Lets all just not let films like this exist. It stops us being all lovely warm and fucking ignorant. Woo."
