Adam Sandler is set to star in his first Walt Disney Pictures film, the family comedy "Bedtime Stories," being directed by Adam Shankman. Sandler also will produce with his Happy Madison partner Jack Giarraputo along with Andrew Gunn and his Gunn Films banner.

"Bedtime" features Sandler as a harried real estate developer whose life is turned upside down when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew begin to come true. Matt Lopez wrote the script.

Shankman said one reason Sandler signed on was "the fact that he is a new father, and the idea of making a beautful Dinsey brand fantasy is soemthing that is in his heart right now.

"And he gets to play dual roles. He gets to play a regular guy and a knight in shining armor in the fantasy world. The comedic possiblities are limitless. And there is nothing better than Adam and kids. It's going to be really fun."

Production will begin this year for a holiday 2008 release.

    This man is a pure GENIUS!! I am working to complete my collection and only need about 6 to do it...1 being the new Don't Mess with the Zohan and another being this Bedtime Stories....which are not even available yet=) I even boast my "Got Adam Sandler" shirt!! He is wonderful and am looking forward to seeing these new movies!!

    Surely anyone who is a Sandler Fan will enjoy this! Anyone who isn't a fan, shouldn't knock him cause they are blind! this man is the best comedian living today!He can have u laughing in .1 secs. now that is talent folks. i own all his movies and we'll keep buying them as long as he keeps making them.

    Sounds like a winner to me. Adam Sandler pulled off the role well in "Reign Over Me" so this would be easy for him. I'm looking forward to it.

    It just seems to me like a mismatch, knowing Sandler's past record along with Disney's. Although, if Jack Black can pull off being in a kid's film, I bet Sandler can, too.

    since he's helping produce it with his happy madison buddies, it's going to have something in it that might make it questionable to take kids to go see. adam sandler and family movies do not go together.

    Adam Sandler is without a doubt one of the single most talented actors in Hollywood. If you want to see his range, check out Reign Over Me. This is an Oscar-worthy performance. I have loved him for years, and I will continue to love everything he does. Yes he is incredibly funny, but he can also play it straight better than most.

    He's good, but let's stay in the real world for a few minutes here LOL.

    Sounds like an interesting storyline. And if it's got some comedy elements in it, he should do rather well. Unless it sucks. LOL
