Mark Wahlberg on The Departed II & III

Mark Wahlberg on The Departed II & III

"They told me they wanted to try to do it and I said, 'Well, I enjoyed playing the character'. I mean, this guy doesn't give a sh*t about anything. He doesn't care what anyone thinks. He just does what he does, he does it the way he wants to do it. And I love that. I don't think that people who are borderline sane have to be bad. It was just the way I was acting throughout the movie, and then you realize that he's one of the only stand-up guys. He avenges the death of someone he doesn't even like just because it's the right thing to do. There's a dignity to him."

Oh, and it seems one of Scorsese's old friends may be lining up to join the story: "They're talking about bringing in De Niro to play a senator or a congressman", revealed the actor. "You know, the corruption obviously going deeper and higher up the ranks - reaching up the political chain. So it'll be fun. And if it's a success, they're gonna do a prequel and bring everyone back, make it a trilogy".

    That'll be great!.
Mark Wahlberg's character was one of the best well probably my favourite yet you didn't see much of him in it. But when you did you sure knew about it :P.
Hopefully they make a number two and don't ruin it you know how that happens sometimes, but mostly likely not. Can't wait!.

Departed is based on the Infernal Affairs trilogy and if the next two are still based on them, they are prequels, not sequels, so it is possible to have the cast back.

  • Not that it is a remake that bothers me, agree if a remake is a good one, that's fine. It's just the part of me that is starting to get tired of all the Hollywood remakes. As much as I liked Departed and like Scorsese, I like he should have an (*) next to his name for that win.

  • If it is done well and acted well, who cares if it's a remake? And I don't believe it will be a direct remake anyway, just based on. Any more movies with Mark in the Departed is ok by me.
