Sean Connery's Cancer Secret Sean Connery has had secret throat cancer fears for 20 years, but doctors have now given him the all-clear. The legendary actor has been having tests for two decades to determine whether growths in his throat were cancerous.

His brother Neil has now revealed he and the star both suffer from polyps.

Neil told Scotland's Daily Record newspaper: "Sean was in New York for his check up. I'm pleased to say he passed. He had polyps on his throat, as I did, and it is ongoing.

    A polyp is an abnormal growth of tissue (tumor) projecting from a mucous membrane. If it is attached to the surface by a narrow elongated stalk it is said to be pedunculated. If no stalk is present it is said to be sessile. Polyps are commonly found in the colon, stomach, nose, urinary bladder and uterus. They may also occur elsewhere in the body where mucous membranes exist like the cervix[1] and small intestine.It could be noncancerous!
