The Mummy 3: Maria Bello Replaces Rachel Weisz

I don't think they should replace Rachel Weisz. She was great in the first and Second and it be good if she in this one too with Brandon Fraser

hey that's cool, I don't care soo much about them replacing weisz, I just don't want them to replace brendan fraser! that would ruin the movie right there!But i'm sure whoever they find to replace weisz, i'm sure i'm going to hate her anyway for being the leading actress in the movie, and kissing my hottie.

I have a BAD feeling this movie is going to stink. It's not like the TV show Bewitched where they changed Darrens and no one cared. People are going to notice Maria Bello, as good an actress as she is, is NOT Rachel Weisz. Since Weisz won that Oscar she probably feels movies like this are beneath her. Snob.

I do not know about another mummy movie! Some things are just better left alone. Mummification is really an egyptian thing not an Asian Dynasty - Emperor thing. I am sure that the special affects and cinematography will be great but the story line. If they were going do a story about China and the Himalayas they should have focused on ancient Chinese/Asian booby traps and many ghost or spirits from Asian folklore. The story line sounds very iffie.

Sure Rachel Weisz was not a main character but she worked well with Brendan. Maria looks nothing like Rachel and lacks the accent which I doubt Maria can mimic. Sure I loved Maria in the History of Violence but in this type of fantasy action flick?? I do not know. I will wait to see what the trailer is like but there are some movie that should not have sequels or end at one.

I think it would have been better to kill off Rachel Weisz's character completely rather than replace her and just have Brendan and his son to the flick.

Hmmmm.....and here I thought that she made the movies good.

Her bumbling in the first one was fun. When she knocked all of those bookcases over, I laughed. Hard.

She was the Lou to Fraser's Bud. I guess that's why I liked watching the first one so much....it reminded me of Abbott and Costello meet the Mummy.

When I say reminded me of that, I mean the almost slapstick quality humor.

It's too bad she didn't want to do this.....the "franchise" won't be the same without her, but I'm willing to give Bello a chance.

What will it change?? Everything! Her chemistry and on-screen presence really made the movie work between her character and Brendan Fraser's. She may have left because of "script problems", but why is that her fault? It doesn't say what the problem was - maybe script called for her going topless - or something she wouldn't do. That's not her fault. She obviously felt it wasn't right. And, I think the movie will suffer for it.

hopefully it doesn't fall with the replacement.

Ugh, I can't stand Maria Bello... not like I cared about this movie in the first place.

Jet Li isn't retired. What had happen is that he finished making kung fu (Fearless) type movies. He's still going to do movies, especially action flixs with plenty of martial arts ("Worldlords" and the "Forbidden Kingdom").

I originally read your reply and thought you were crazy. But, the more I read, the more it looks as though he's going to still be doing movies, just not martial arts. Which, will be wierd. But, yeah, without the original cast, I can't believe this movie will feel the same. I guess we'll have to wait and see. But, I'm not going to hold my breath...

For those of you who don't know, Jet Li has OFFICIALLY retired from acting. He is NOT doing another movie. So, I doubt this story is true. However, if it somehow holds some truth, getting rid of an original main actor/actress ALWAYS ruins the movie. For those of you saying Rachel was not a major character, what do you mean? She was pivotal in both Mummy movies. The chemistry between her and Brendan is key. You get rid of her, and that whole familiarity and chemistry is gone. I'll maybe rent the movie...but, it probably won't be worth it.

Yay, I will not give up on the Mummy. Even though the second one really....sucked. The first one was awesome! And this one has Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. Heck yes!

replacing an actor is the worse idea ever. i hate movies that change their actors. however i can't wait to see the movie.

An interesting side note however is that THE DARK KNIGHT will probably be better without Mrs. Cruise... I'm just saying, it really is no loss.

I say if any actor can't come back to a movie they should just dump the whole ridiculous thing!!! They've done this with too many movies and they've always been horrible because they've cast another actor to play the part when that person doesn't even look like the actor! THANK THE LORD that all the actors in Pirates 2 are staying around for the 3rd movie. At least THAT movie's going to be good.

MasterArcher, if any characters get changed in any movie it always ruins the movie cuz then its never like the original...Eve should stay the same actress through all the movies or they shouldnt make a third otherwise its gonna be crap

Ladyofeveilness you can change the ones that don't change the movie, Brendan Fraser is the Star of the movie. His wife in the movie was no important actor I don't know why you think changing her will change the movie.
