With director Zack Snyder gearing up to shoot "Watchmen" later this year in Vancouver, there are now rumors about who may have won the lead roles in the big-screen version of the graphic novel, reports IGN.

According to Ain't It Cool News, three stars have been aligned for the movie. The site claims that Keanu Reeves will play Dr. Jon Osterman, a.k.a. the god-like Dr. Manhattan. Reeves is a self-proclaimed comic book fan who wanted to play Wolverine in the "X-Men" movies and was once rumored for the Silver Surfer.

Another comic book fan/movie star may be joining Reeves in the cast. Jude Law will supposedly play Adrian Veidt a.k.a. Ozymandias, which is not very shocking since Law has been publicly lobbying to be in "Watchmen" long before Snyder boarded the project. It is said that Law even sports a Watchmen tattoo!

Finally, Patrick Wilson (Hard Candy, Little Children) is reportedly going to play Dan Dreiberg, a.k.a. Nite Owl II, arguably the central protagonist in the ensemble.

One of the best min-series ever! I thought that after the slaughter of V for Vendetta and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Alan Moore said no more? I heard he was so disappointed that they even made V that he like, sued or something so that they WOULDN'T make Watchmen? Hell, he pulled his name out of the V credits!
But, with Zack Snyder making this, one would think that maybe Alan Moore should just trust a little... the man rocked it with 300! And as much as I understand WHY Moore doesn't want his work transferred to film and support him in that, I'm outweighed by my desire to see Rorschach being the man.

Buy the book, get it from ebay or a comic store - this is an awesome comic - how on earth did they get Alan Moore's permission to film it though? was this the comic that Terry Gillam asked Alan for advice on how to make into a movie and Alan just said 'Don't'.
