Nobody likes to have an opening day on Friday anymore. If a movie opens a few days earlier, the studio can claim to have received a much bigger opening weekend. According to ComingSoon, this is no different with "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
The fifth installment was scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on July 13th (Friday), and is now apparently moved two days back to July 11th (Wednesday). This will give the movie a potential five-day opening, from Wednesday through Sunday.
Earlier release date means that the film will cut into the profits of the movies released the week before, like Michael Bay's "Transformers," which is opening on July 4th (also a Wednesday).
