hey in da comics nd cartoons silver surfer became a slave to galactus after he ate his planet so his powers r depended on him so he is a good guy who tries to save planet earth but is bound to obey galactus

i believe he was the forerunner or herald of galactus, so in a way he was simply a messenger, though it was a message of pretty much "your planet's about to be eaten by a giant planet-eating dude, good-bye."

I think at some point he leaves that "job" and does become a "good-guy."
