Scott Weinberg writes: "Another one for the "sequels we just didn't see coming" file: Another "Scorpion King"?
Our source indicates that, well, we don't exactly know if The Rock is coming back to reprise the title role, but word is that Universal might want Russell Mulcahy to direct the sequel. Mr. Mulchay is presently finishing up on "Resident Evil: Extinction." His other films include "Ricochet," "The Shadow," "The Real McCoy," "Highlander," and (ugh) "Highlander 2: The Quickening." (Oh, and "Razorback," which still isn't out on DVD.)
So yeah: "The Scorpion King 2," which would be a sequel to a prequel to a sequel of a remake. Right?

  • No dude, it was a prequel. It's about a character who later appears in the Mummy movies, and it's set thousands of years BEFORE they happen so, it's a prequel.
    A spin-off would be a totally different movie, independent of the original story line, but still about the same character.
    See the difference?
