Nicole Kidman has told Entertainment Weekly that her Catholic faith affected her consideration of "The Golden Compass." The screenplay for the fantasy film, based on the book by Philip Pullman, is already attracting attention for avoiding much of the book's perceived anti-Catholic rhetoric.

    Sorry for my bad and rusty English! :-)

    I think this so called "anti-catholic" elements make the trilogy so good!

    But, if someone identifies the Catholic Church in Lyras Magisterium it is because the Catholic Church have real problems.

    I believe Pullman's great adventure is a apology for the human quality to think, to change, to evolve, to be free and the Magisterium is a fascit power trying to keep control over the humanity by subtracting this qualities, am I making myself clear? The language problem's can be a problem.

    Is ou Church like Lyras Magisterium? Maybe... Let's see what will be "her" reaction.
