"Total Recall" Remake Planned

"Total Recall" Remake Planned Moviehole reports that The Weinstein Company is planning to do a sequel to Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Total Recall." But with Arnold unlikely to return to acting, this sequel is looking more like a remake.

In the original movie, Douglas Quaid (Schwarzenegger) is haunted by a recurring dream about a journey to Mars. He hopes to find out more about this dream by buying a holiday from a company that sells implanted memories. But his simple trip to Mars ends up a fight to bring oxygen to the locals.

"Total Recall" was directed by Paul Verhoeven (RoboCop, Basic Instinct) and based on a short story by Philip K. Dick

This is the dumbest idea Hollywood ever had!!! The original was made in 1990 and the fx are still good today. What the hell is wrong with those idiots?! This film doesn't need remaking.

That does it, all writers for new (original) movies must be on strike. Remakes are everywhere and most often uncalled for. This totally sucks!

Remaking this film is TOTALLY not needed.
Some movies are made to be remade after so many years, but this movie is not that old. I remember watching this when I was a kid, and I am not that old yet. Maybe if they waited another 20 years, then they could think about remaking.

Yet I am guessing that we are in the remaking area in Hollywood business. That is where the money is, and that is what they want to do.

    WHY??!!

If Hollywood is so obsessed with doing remakes, why don't they get films that were badly made, but had good stories to tell, and try to do them properly, leave the good films alone.

Just a little bit of trivia concerning Total Recall: Minority Report was a planned sequel to it, with Schwarzenegger as the pre crime cop. It was to be set in Mars, with the mutants being the ones who could see the crimes before they happen. When this never came about, after several years & rewrites Spielberg & Cruise got their hands on it :)

A remake is totally not needed! The movie was done right in the first place and is one my favorite science fiction films of all time.
