Saw 5 Updates! ShockTillYouDrop.com talked today to new Saw 5 director David Hackl, who says they are outlining the story for the fifth installment now with writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. The next film is scheduled to begin shooting after the first of the new year for a release in October of 2008.

Alexa Vega, who stars in Saw IV director Darren Lynn Bousman's horror musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, told us that she has been begging Hackl to be killed in Saw 5, but who knows if she'll end up being in the film.

David Hackl was the production designer of Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV, as well as for "Repo!". He also did second unit directing for Saw III, Saw IV, and is doing so for "Repo!".

    I'm already counting down the days! The thing with people these days is that they don't want anything new to become a "classic"... It's as though these movies need to collect dust before someone is willing to say that it's brilliant!
    Just look at the "classic" killers of the last few decades, the most note-worthy being Michael Myers, Jason and Freddy! They're films have become basically a joke where you WANT to see the victims get what's coming to them! I find myself cheering for Jason every time I know he's going to give some slutty cheerleader and horney high school jock a good slicing! :P
    I cannot WAIT for the next Saw installment! I hope they make 10 more, so long as the gory twists are there and that slap-in-the-face that we've come to expect! :D

    Great franchise has a great twist on the horror genre. Lets look forward to some more splicing and dicing in weird and bizarre Saw. Lets hope it can match the other films.
