Escape from New York is the latest John Carpenter film to receive the back-handed compliment of a Hollywood remake. True, that's a somewhat jaded way of looking at it (hey, that’s a great idea, um, but we can do it better…) but what other possible reason could there be to remake a movie?
Surely not an apparent scarcity of original ideas in Hollywood, or the reluctance of some studios to take creative risks, preferring instead the relative financial security of a proven and recycled idea?
Nah.

    The remake of "3:10 To Yuma" was better than the original.

    I love "The Last Man On Earth" and the remake "The Omega Man" was better, just as I am sure "I Am Legend" will be better than "The Omega Man".

    The thing you have to worry about the most is that the little turd Brett Ratner has been given the directorial reigns.

    Which Hollywood tramps will be cast in this flick? Is Lindsey Lohan the new Adrianne Barbeau character?

    I hope that EFNY sets will be cursed. lol, a shitstorm of mashed potatoes and gravy will smother the set.

    deadimpulse, that's the best explanation of the rash of recent remakes I've ever heard. Hope you don't mind but I'm gonna 'borrow' that quote from time to time.:)
