Filmmaker-actor Nick Cassavetes, who was attached to direct Iron Man before Jon Favreau took it over, is now rumored to be directing the Captain America movie for Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures.

In addition to directing The Notebook and Alpha Dog, Cassavetes is the son of the late actor-filmmaker John Cassavetes and actress Gena Rowlands. According to CHUD.com, Rowlands appeared on the ITV program This Morning where she mentioned her son's involvement with the Marvel film.

David Self recently penned the screenplay for Captain America, which will reportedly go into production sometime in 2008. Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige has said in the past that the film will be set partially in the present and partially during World War II.

    its about time! You would think with everything going on these past few years Marvel would be pushing a movie for Captian amercia...with todays climate..I'm really excited...
