During a "National Treasure 2" junket, Collider got the chance to ask mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer a few questions about the "Prince of Persia" film, which is yet to go into production.
"We hired a very interesting director – Mike Newell – who did one of the Harry Potter's and also did Donnie Brasco and he's a very inventive, ingenious director and I think he's going to bring something really special to it," said Bruckheimer. "we have a screenplay, we're just starting to develop the look of it. It'll be unique and fresh."
He went on to explain that they are not going to film until June. "Hopefully the writers will come to some kind of consensus with the studios and we can continue," he added.
Regarding the period of when the film will take place: "I guess it's the 8th or 9th Century, but that could change to," said Bruckheimer. "It might change a little bit, we're not sure yet. It'll definitely be a period film; we’re not going to make it contemporary."
He also added that casting has not started yet and if the film is successful, he would love to turn it into a franchise. "It's a big production and if they work it's another character that you can take on other adventures."
