Ice princess... Factual Errors ( from skaters poin...

Ice Princess is a story of a bookworm/ geek who decides to use her passion in ice-skating as a physics project in entry to Harvard.

It was only then she discovered that Harvard is not her dream but her mothers’. Despites on her mum’s objection, she went ahead to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional ice skater.

This show is very inspirational and heartwarming. However there are some of the factual errors in ice-skating that were made in the show. I am sure that other skaters can vouch it. True, dreams can come true. Skating is fun. However, it needs years of time and effort. That cannot possibly be depicted in a “ 1 hr 32 minutes” film.

Factual Errors:

Myth:

Children were doing movements that were under Snow-plow sam class.


Truth:

The movements, which involved waltz jumps, upright spins, loops and lutz that kids were doing were movements Freestyle level 1,2,6 not snow –plow sam class


Myth
As Last skater in sectional, Casey skated in clean ice

Truth:

No ice rink will resurface the ice for last skater. There is no way the ice would be clean

Myth:

Kids were automatically put in juvenile...

Truth

You need to pass 3 levels, Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary, and Pre-Juvenile before you go to that level. To do that you need to pass 2 tests per level.


Myth:

Kids and Casey were tested under spotlight before they were automatically put in
juvenile. There were props.

Fact:

No spotlights, No music allowed. Max two skaters allowed in the rink. There should be no props on ice
