The trailer for the upcoming Ricki Lake documentary, entitled "The Business of Being Born," has been released and tries to show how women have been fooled when it came to giving birth.
The film interlaces intimate birth stories with surprising historical, political and scientific insights and shocking statistics about the current maternity care system. When director Epstein discovers she is pregnant during the making of the film, the journey becomes even more personal.
"The Business of Being Born" is directed by Abby Epstein, who last helmed the 2003 documentary "World VDAY," about a global movement to end violence against women and girls. Her new movie will appear in NY today (January 9th).
