Screenwriter James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) chatted with , giving listeners an update on his next project, "Spider-Man 4," which he is now onboard for. [via Comics2Film]

"I went in on that. I really loved the films," Vanderbilt said. "It's sort of an odd process because you're sitting down with the people who made the first three and going, 'Well let me tell you what to do.' But I was lucky enough that they were interested in me and I'm a huge fan of those movies, so we closed that up right before the strike."

He added that while no work is being done, things are being planned. "Once the strike's over I get to go to work," he revealed.

    I propose the Spider-Man franchise follow in the steps of Batman: cash in on it until the movies become such utter trash that you have to restart the series. Only with Batman, the first franchise was great, and with Spider-Man, the first franchise (Sony's) just plain should not exist, in any universe.

    I dont care who is in it, as long as they make it good this time. Spidey 3 was horrible. Anyways, the trilogy is over, they really should stop with the franchise.

    although i really like the spider-man movies, they shouldnt make any more. im sure if they do it will be good but they should stop, not carry on with them too much.

    I don't think they should have continued the whole series out like this. I didn't even want to see the third one or the second one, although I did :D

    tobey yes, but not kristen dunst because i find her to be a horrible actress. possibly more horrible then katie holmes. and if it turns out as horrible as the third one... i dont know what i'll do but it will be bad lol
