ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that Robert Englund - who has portrayed Freddy Kruger since 1984, starting with "Nightmare on Elm Street" - will not return to reprise his role in the upcoming remake.

Platinum Dunes and New Line Cinema have recently announced that they are working together to overhaul "Nightmare on Elm Street," which includes finding a new actor to replace Englund.

The reason for this decision is because Platinum Dunes are planning to restart the franchise from square one, similar to what other films have done (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). The script will not be ready until the WGA comes to an end.

    People don't understand horror fans anymore. We don't want remakes we want sequels. And if there must be a remake the bad guy must be played by the original actor.

    I've also hear the Hellraise remake probably wont have Doug Bradly.

    This is bull shit i dont want a remake i want a other movie added on the series and i sont see it cuz robert england wont be freddy kruger wut is the point this movie will not make much money it will make about 1000 dollars if he wont be in it there should not be another freddy kruger movie i would love to see another one but only if robert is in it
