New Line Cinema has just released a tribute to Semi-Pro's Jackie Moon (Will Ferrell) in a form of interviews with former NBA players, Mark Cuban and many others. They all gathered to talk about how Moon's hit song "Love Me Sexy" changed their lives and was able to unite an entire country.
According to the video, Jackie Moon bought the Flint Tropics of the ABA in 1972 for $28,000. He paid for the team with the profits from his chart-topping 1970 single, which you can watch here.
The story of "Semi-Pro" revolves around Jackie Moon (Ferrell), the owner/coach/player of the American Basketball Association's Flint Michigan Tropics, who rallies his teammates to make their NBA dreams come true. It is scheduled to hit theaters on February 29th.
