Lavigne plans fragrance, clothing line

Canadian popstar Avril Lavigne will launch her own clothing and fragrance line.

Speaking in a conference call on Monday, the singer said: "The clothing line I've wanted to do for about three years, and a lot of times what people do is a licensing deal and I didn't want to do that. I wanted to own a company and really be able to be a designer, be creative, and I finally have found someone to partner up with."

Lavigne is currently preparing for her third tour and hopes to expand the scope of her live shows.

"Over time I've sort of just learned how I need to be on stage. I'm more confident and it's just more dynamic, brighter, more colourful," she said.

Stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey and Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have all lent their names to fashion lines and fragrances.
