On Kristen Stewart, Twilight, Into the Wild and Yellow Handkerchief

First on our list of upcoming profiles for young actresses is Kristen Stewart. I first heard of her and thought this girl is fabulous when I watched Undertow. That's another David Gordon Green movie with the awesome Jamie Bell in the lead role. While her role is a bit short, she made quite an impression as Jamie Bell's girl, whose parents disapprove of the young man. Undertow is one of Jamie's most acclaimed films and from there Miss Stewart goes from strength to strength.

Kristen also made waves in Sean Penn's Into the Wild, the movie that really made Emile Hirsch the star to watch. Says Kristen on her audition for the role (the actress auditioned for Sean Penn with a song):

Music is one of the most emotionally expressive things you can do. If I’m not feelin’ it, I can’t sing. Those two nights [where she sings for a crowd in the film], something was going on. It’s not always you can give that much. But, yeah, it’s intimidating. I went in and played "Blackbird” for him. That’s a hard song to sing to. I’m not a singer. I can play it but he was really funny about it. He asked me if I didn’t want him to look at me. "Do you want me to turn around?” "No, you have to see it.” But, I’d never done anything like that. It takes a guy like Sean to make you come to it and pump out the words.

Fans of the young actress are of course ecstatic about her forthcoming role in Twilight, one of the most popular upcoming films today. But there is another movie that will keep fans asking for more.

“The Yellow Handkerchief” is a beautiful love story, with a global emotional impact. I like to engage myself in projects where an audience can identify with the main characters – their hopes and their fears – so the question of a big budget vs. a small budget film does not arise. For me the only concern is that the audience all over the world will feel for the main protagonists and will identify with their concerns. The remake of “The Yellow Handkerchief” is such an endeavor – it has a global message that one should never give up. I trust that people will love this film and identify with it as a result of its sincere emotions." says producer Arthur Cohn.

In The Yellow Handerchief, Kristen plays Martine, a lonely girl in search of love. We'll have the full movie feature next!

The only time I saw her was in The Messengers, and she really wasn't that good. I hope that they decide to pick someone else... I really like those books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse)and I hate it when they ruin the movie to ruin the book completely! I'm probably gonna get attacked because of this, but it's what I think! =D
