Ryan Reynolds has discussed his first love on the eve of the release of his new movie, 'Definitely, Maybe', saying that the relationship "wasn't to be" because it was like "kissing a bucket of dirt" and - revealing that he wishes to have a hot romance onscreen with Julia Roberts.
The 31-year-old actor, who's made headlines recently reportedly proposing to girlfriend Scarlett Johansson (both denied it), discussed his first love with Jeanne Wolf from Parade magazine.
"It was Ariel, in high school," he declares, considerately not revealing her surname.
"I was just head over heels for her. She gave me a smooch behind the dumpsters outside of shop class. Unfortunately, she smoked these herbal cigarettes so it was literally like kissing a bucket of dirt."
Reynolds also reveals his excitement at starring alongside Julia Roberts in the upcoming flick 'Fireflies in the Garden', saying, "I was so excited, until I found out the scenes I have with her are when she's playing my mother. I was like, 'Couldn't we have a hot romance instead?' It's so sad. I have to tell my friends that I'm getting to act with the 'old' Julia Roberts."
