What's Next For the Heath Ledger Painting?

It's official: the portrait of Heath Ledger, which he sat for before his tragic death in January, is a finalist for Australia's prestigious Archibald Prize. The contest will award the "best portrait painting" of an Australian "distinguished in art, letters, science or politics" to one of 40 works of art in the running, including Vincent Fantauzzo's "Heath."
The other Aussie notables painted for the prize include actor Aden Young, film critic David Stratton and musician Sarah Blasko. You can see the entries here. The winner will be announced on March 7, with a People's Choice honoree named on March 8.
As a finalist, the Heath portrait will tour regional art galleries through 2009. After that, Vincent tells PageSix.com that he will give the painting to the late actor's mother, Sally Ramshaw.
