Cars 2, Tron 2, Pirates 4...
Cars 2, Tron 2, Pirates 4 in 2011
AICN received a scoop that Disney is planning several franchise installments in 2011. Some of the sequels include "Cars 2," "National Treasure 3" and "Pirates of the Caribbean 4." Plus, the rumored "Tron" movie will apparently be complete the same year and will be released in 3D.
"Cars" was made by "Pixar," the studio that has stated several times that cashing in on sequels is not what they are about. Outside of "Toy Story," Pixar has avoided any new installments to their extremely popular films. "Cars" earned over $460 million during its theatrical run, which is a no-brainer for any studio, but with Pixar being involved, I find it hard to believe that they will let themselves be bullied by Disney into a "Cars" sequel.
We've heard before that "Tron 2" was being considered. In fact, Jeff Bridges himself has confirmed the rumors. The original 1982 film revolves around a hacker, who is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.
