DIRTY Dancing hunk PATRICK SWAYZE was said to need a miracle last night ? after being told pancreatic cancer could kill him in five weeks. Doctors are understood to have warned Swayze, 55, to prepare for the end. The disease has spread to other organs, according to US reports yesterday. And a source said: ?It?s time to start praying for a miracle.? Swayze, who also starred in the 1990 hit movie Ghost, has been having radical chemotherapy at Stanford University?s cancer centre in Palo Alto, California. But doctors are not now thought to be planning further treatment. The source added: ?He was told he could have two more treatments but his cancer was not responding. ?In short ? they hold out little hope for a cure.? Swayze is said to have lost more than 20 pounds in the past few weeks and is restricted to a liquid diet because he has trouble keeping down solid food. He is understood to have been diagnosed in January after displaying symptoms late December while filming a pilot for a new TV show in Chicago. The star was reported to have visited the Stanford cancer centre for outpatient chemotherapy treatment three times between January 30 and February 22, and met his consultant twice. Swayze and his wife LISA NIEMI who both have pilot?s licences, have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into California?s Palo Alto airport. It is minutes away from the medical facility where he was treated. The tumour is understood to have shrunk during three initial doses of chemotherapy ? but not as much as his doctors had hoped.
