Final Destination 4, the fourth film of the Final Destination series, is going to be shot in 3-D. The film is currently in filming in New Orleans with filming set to begin March 3rd until May 29th with an early 2009 release set. This will be the first Final Destination film not to film in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Plot
The film will be a stand-alone movie and will feature brand new characters. When a young male teen has a vision of a catastrophic accident happening at a race track, he alerts his friends and they are all saved from a large object that flies from one of the race cars and lands right in the audience, just missing him and his friends. Now Death is collecting those who evaded their fate, but this time, Death is more gruesome than ever before and the struggle to live has never been so brutal.
Final Destination 4 is "greenlit." On November 20, 2007, the Hollywood Reporter announced that David R. Ellis, the director of Final Destination 2 and Snakes on a Plane, has signed on to direct and develop Final Destination 4 with Eric Bress writing the screenplay. The film will be a stand-alone sequel and will have no connection to the other films, starting off with new teenagers. It will also be shot in 3-D.
No official word on the deaths has been released. However, in the YouTube auditions for Final Destination 4, the character "Nick" talked about the mechanic being the first one on Death's list. Therefore, it's assumed that the first death will take place in a garage of some sort.
