Hollywood power couple turned political couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner showed some love for their pick for prez, hosting a fund-raiser for Barack Obama last night in Boston.

But it wasn't mingling with John Kerry and Teresa Heinz that got Ben all revved up. PageSix.com spies tell us Ben seemed most proud to be among the common folk of Beantown. "This isn't some $1,500-a-plate event for the elite," Ben said. (Plates were only $50, or $250 for VIP.)

Our spies tell us that Ben refused to talk smack about Hillary Clinton, saying, "This isn't about casting aspersions," and ducked questions about his political aspirations as well. He said he hadn't been offered the role of Barack's VP, quipping, "I'm just glad I haven't been asked to do a sexy YouTube video."



Maybe all the commotion around Ben was just too much for Jen, who appeared to be rather, um, confused. First she just posed for cameras, but refused to answer questions. At one point, our spy says, Jen even said, "I don't talk."

Maybe it should've stayed that way. When she did, well, it just got worse. Jen said she'd be up for moving to Boston "in a heartbeat, but it's six hours from where I work," which is interesting to us because, well, Jen is actually currently filming in Boston. Our spy says she was quick to respond to the quizzical looks of those around her. "Whoops, I'm working here at the moment," she said.
