The Boondock Saints 2 Happening

It’s taken nearly ten years, but the 1999 movie Boondock Saints is finally getting a sequel. Writer/director Troy Duffy announced the impending second movie Monday via a video blog posted on YouTube.

Duffy says, “We just completed our deal with Sony Pictures Studios to do the sequel to Boondock 2: All Saints Day, which should be shooting this summer.”

The original film is the story of two Irish brothers who set about knocking off mafia gang members in Boston. Willem Dafoe played a detective on their trail, who starts to question whether the men he’s pursuing might be doing them all a favor. No word yet on what the second film will involved, but Duffy says, “There’s a bunch of funky new roles, that you’re gonna see, and I think you’re gonna really like.”

WOW...how did I NOT see this post? The Boondock Saints, to me, was a freakin classic. Right when I saw the "2" in bold my jaw dropped. The script was an original and that's what made it so damn good. And now the sequel...my goodness. After reading this, I'm popping in the DVD and watching the film again, it's been a long while. Can't wait for ALL SAINTS DAY!

I don't think the first one was a bomb it was just blackballed. Never made it to most theaters and became the first big Blockbuster exclusive on video. Plus the movie was going to come out the same week that a couple of jackass shot up a school in Colorado dressed a little like the charaters in this movie. I don't know if you remember but they tried to blame everything for the shootings. There was a call to boycott The Matrix because people in that movie dressed like the killers. I remember seeing clips of Boondock Saints on CNN while they talked about the shootings.

The movie never had a chance.

watching the documentary Overnight proves that if any director doesn't deserve another chance at filmmaking, it's Troy Duffy. what an arrogant asshole. hopefully Boondock's initial bomb at the box office and all this time in between with no career will give the man a smidgeon of modesty.
cheers

I really don't get all the hype surrounding this film.. it was a cheezy wanabe-cool film but it simply sucked.

Yeah I was kinda bummed about Dafoe too,But as long as the Original brothers,Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus will be in there thats all that matters to me in the long run.I can't wait,I was ecstatic to hear this news!!!
