Wary Jim Carrey Won't Marry

Jim Carrey hit it big this week with Horton Hears a Who but he’s not hearing any wedding bells. The 46-year-old actor has been dating Jenny McCarthy for over two years, but two previous marriages have been enough for him.


"I'm happy with Jenny," Jim Carrey told Britain's Weekend magazine. "Although I probably won't get married again. If you've done it twice, you really should stop doing it."


Jim Carrey’s first wife was Melissa Womer, a former actress and Comedy Store waitress. Together they had a daughter, who’s now 20. But as Jim Carrey’s career took off in the mid-1990s with such hits as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask, his marriage hit the rocks. Shortly after splitting with his first wife, Carrey began dating his Dumb and Dumber costar, Lauren Holly. They were married in 1996, but were divorced in less than a year.


Carrey perhaps realized that the third time’s not the charm when his engagement to actress Renée Zellweger, whom he met on the set of Me, Myself & Irene, ended in December 2000.


His girlfriend Jenny McCarthy may believe in the rule of threes, at least with movie choices, considering she’s appeared in Scream 3 and Scary Movie 3.


But it’s unlikely she’s in any rush to marry Jim Carrey (who, by the way for you numerologists, flopped in The Number 23). Jenny McCarthy has been married before, too.


On September 11, 1999, the former Playboy model married actor/director John Asher, but got divorced six years later. The two had made one film together, Dirty Love, which was critically panned and gone from theatres in the blink of eye.


So it might be a while before Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey hook up on the silver screen, too. Separately, they each hammed it up on TV in the ‘90s – Carrey with his rubber-faced impressions on In Living Color and McCarthy was both sexy and gross on MTV’s Singled Out


Today, they use their wacky sense of humor to help Jenny McCarthy’s 5-year-old son Evan, who suffers from autism…and a mild fear of swimming pools.


"I can get him into the water," Carrey said. "Although it took a few hours of acting like it was the greatest thing in the world to get him to do it."


Sounds like Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy are the perfect pair. As long as they stay away from any wedding chapels.
