Jared Leto Says No To ‘Fight Club’ Musical

Two months ago, we reported on “Fight Club” director David Fincher’s ambitious plans to take his macho classic to the Great White Way, with music and book by NIN front man Trent Reznor no less. “I want at the 10-year anniversary to do ‘Fight Club’ as a musical on Broadway,” the director enthused at the time. “I love the idea of that.”

So do we. Jared Leto, on the other hand? Well, he just wants to destroy something pretty.
“I think that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard in my life,” the “Fight Club” star snidely remarked when we asked if he’d heard of the idea. “Could you imagine?”

(Insert an “all singing, all dancing, crap of the world” joke here).

His reaction was so averse, in fact, we wondered if he knew something we didn’t – namely, were Fincher and “Fight Club” author Chuck Palahnuik putting us on the whole time?

“Uh, I think if he isn’t,” Leto started to respond before remembering the First Rule. “I’m gonna bite my tongue. You never know. It smells like disaster but it could be genius. I have no idea.”

Watch Leto’s reaction, then let us know what you think about the possibility of a “Fight Club” musical. Sound like a good idea to you?
