Fox has preemptively bought Mike Arnold and Chris Poole's spec "Beaujolais" for Bobby and Peter Farrelly to produce through their Conundrum banner as a potential directing vehicle. Danny McBride (Pineapple Express) is in talks to star in the comedy.
Project has been dubbed a redneck action-adventure with a protagonist along the lines of an "Austin Powers" or "Ace Ventura."
"We haven't stepped up and done something like us in a while," Bobby Farrelly said. "Everything sort of aligned for us on this project."
The Farrelly brothers are the men behind "Dumb & Dumber," "Kingpin," "There's Something About Mary," "Me, Myself & Irene," "Shallow Hal," "Stuck on You," "Fever Pitch" and more recently, "The Heartbreak Kid."
