Gerard Butler's Dog of a Cameron Diaz Denial

Is Cameron Diaz's spring fling with Gerard Butler already flung? The beefy "300" actor, who's reportedly been spied cozying up with the giggly actress in recent weeks, is undiplomatically denying they're an item.

When confronted by paparazzi during a tank-topped jog Thursday in Los Angeles, Butler cheekily downplayed the dating rumors, zinging, "If I take my dog for a walk, apparently I'm [bleeping] my dog."

He then clarified that the wooing talk is "not true, no."

(When contacted for comment, the Scottish actor's pooch issued a terse "no comment" and went back to munching on Snausages.)

Still, People magazine reports Diaz and Butler have lately "kicked off a steamy courtship," with the two supposedly snuggling up at hot spot Teddy's on March 29 and popping by Robert Downey Jr.'s April 4 birthday bash at the Chateau Marmont, where they mingled with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal.

"She has been seeing a little of Gerard," a mole tells the mag.

But Cam, who yukked it up on "Saturday Night Live" last weekend with her "What Happens in Vegas" co-star Ashton Kutcher, has also been seeing a little of Diddy.

They were seen sipping martinis with "arms intertwined" at the bar of the Beverly Hills Hotel on April 5, according to People.

But Diaz, 35, has made it abundantly clear she's in an oats-sowing phase. On the heels of her admission to British GQ that she's "boy crazy," she tells the May issue of W that she's just trying to live life to the fullest.

"I'm in love with love. I'm in love with life," she bubbles to the magazine. "This year I just sort of decided, you know, there's a lot of things that I've been wanting to do, and I'm going to do them."

Among the things she wants to do: look inward.

"Just kind of taking more time getting to know myself," the leggy actress explains of what's in store for the future. "It sounds so corny that I can't believe I even just said that, but, you know, there comes a time when you really have to get to know who you are."

But will she discover she's kind of a ditz?

When Diaz turned up a little late for the W sit-down, she told the interviewer, "Mercury is in retrograde, and that messes with technology, and I was trying to get on e-mail to approve something, and my computer kept crashing."

She then segues into a round of "name that icky substance": "I feel like I have stuff all over my mouth. Do I have, like, gunk on my lips? Am I grossing you out? It's like, eewwww, gross!"

Anyhoo, Cameron has already started planning for her extended journey of self-discovery.

"I envision a full year off, just living life and having fun. It's the best thing," she says. "I think sometimes people are afraid to say that they're happy -- they feel guilty about it. My life isn't perfect. I have my struggles; everybody does. But I want to appreciate all of the amazing things in my life. People should have the right to be happy."
