Dimension Extreme may have released Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s acclaimed French gorefest INSIDE uncut and unrated on DVD, but Fango friend Brian J. Kustek informs us that’s not the version you may find at Blockbuster Video, which has an exclusive rental agreement with Dimension. “You might want to post a word of warning for all who rent INSIDE at Blockbuster,” he tells us. “Blockbuster has been carrying unrated product for quite some time now, but with this particular title it seems they were compelled to release an ‘R-rated’ version for on-line and in-store rentals. Unfortunately, the film is now cut by seven minutes, clocking in at a scant 75—and the DVD itself is marked with a small R along the curve of the disc. Oddly enough, the rental envelope neglects to mention any rating—and has an 85-minute running time clearly marked on it. Not since THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, and after years of silence—Blockbuster strikes again!” Indeed, so if you’re renting INSIDE rather than buying it, proceed with caution! —Michael Gingold
