Mackenzie's run-in with a train driver
Film premieres are usually easy-going affairs. You know the score... stars turn up in lovely dresses, fans scream in adoration, the assembled press ask nice and non-probing questions... everyone's a winner.
There wasn't quite so much love going on at the Three And Out premiere in Leicester Square last night as Mackenzie Crook found to his chagrin. Verbally accosted by a train driver questioning the ethics of a movie that gets its laughs from dead commuters (well that's how the Underground man assumed the film would work), the one-time Office star found himself defending his new flick.
The Brit-comedy tells the tale of Paul Callow (Crook), a Tube driver who after inadvertently killing two passengers in two separate incidents finds that if he happens to off a third, he will be signed off work on full pay for the rest of his life.
So, you can understand why the real-life wheelmen would get a bit miffed at making light of such a dark subject – but as Crook himself says, “See the film and then make up your mind.”
