Want to buy a Joker action figure for the upcoming film The Dark Knight? Good luck finding one. WENN reports that fans have cleaned out New York toy stores’ entire supply of Heath Ledger’s Mattel-produced Joker action figure within minutes of them going on sale. An employee of Times Square’s Toys R Us store claims that there are none left in the warehouse and that fans will be waiting a while if they want one. The $9.99-priced figure is currently selling on eBay for up to $55 each. Although some auctions are ending for around double the purchase price.

    I don't think people really understand the concept of "Collector's Item". Sure, any toy is likely to fetch big bucks in about 30 years, but these things are being mass produced. They aren't ultrarare, though I guess they will be if people keep snatching them up.
