Will Lucas Extend His 'Star Wars' Story ...

Will Lucas Extend His 'Star Wars' Story Beyond 'Return of the Jedi'?

Now that George Lucas and his crew are preparing to launch the first big-screen Star Wars flick in all CGI, some folks are wondering whether that means he'd be down to eventually continue the saga where Return of the Jedi left off -- especially since it wouldn't be hard to bring back original actors like Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher to do the voice work. Fans, of course, would publicly bash such a move ... even if they'd secretly been wishing for the return of Luke, Leia and Han for years. So, would Lucas do it? Is he considering it?

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Sith King himself claims there will be no such film from him. Lucas says, "There really isn't any story to tell there. It's been covered in the books and video games and comic books, which are things I think are incredibly creative but that I don't really have anything to do with other than being the person who built the sandbox they're playing in." He continues, "I get asked all the time, 'What happens after "Return of the Jedi"?,' and there really is no answer for that. The movies were the story of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, and when Luke saves the galaxy and redeems his father, that's where that story ends." Star Wars: The Clone Wars arrives in theaters on August 15, then heads to Cartoon Network and TNT for a weekly series.

Would you rather see a CGI Star Wars flick that takes place during The Clone Wars or after Return of the Jedi?

I just want Star Wars to fuck off now. There's 6 of these movies not to mention all the other media types available for this franchise! Anything that exceeds the number of sequels Police Academy had turns to pure stupidity!

As much as I love Star Wars...I just don't see another installment. The story ended well. Darth Vader redeemed himself, and the was Sith destroyed. The ending is happy. Don't mess with it. Plus you would have to find all new actors...unless you had Star Wars: The Geriatric years? But that would be lame.

I really do not think that Lucas needs do make a movie after Jedi he has already said once revenge of the sith was done...the main story was done...now don't get me wrong i like the original trilogy better than 1-3, but i think you need 1-3 to fully tell the story....I have just gotten into reading the books recently and i really enjoy them....so if someone wants lucas to make a movie after return of the jedi...may i recomend reading truce at bakura and go from there

Lucas should just allow some people that are NOT all washed up to write, produce and direct a movie that takes place after Jedi.

DarthMaz, maybe I'm not a fan anymore.....I will always love the original trilogy, but since 1995, Star Wars has lost it's luster.

Lucas has changed so much since his original story. I'd never call him a sell-out or anything like that, because we all know that we'd take the money too.

All I'm doing is stating that the money machine has changed the heart of SW, and well, mine as well.

I would rather that it stayed with the three original movies. We waited so long to see a SW sequel, we had it so built up in our minds, that it just couldn't meet our(at least my) expectations.

I've seen every movie opening day, in the theater. My first comic books were Star Wars and Superman comics. Like I said in a previous post, I owned over 800 action figures (old and new). Star Wars is what made me the businessman/collector I am today. Star Wars is the reason I opened a comic shop.

Trust me, there were no SW fans bigger than me. The same maybe, but none bigger. Things change.

ok... honestly... Hayden Christensen was terrible! Anakin would be so much better w/out him.
Star Wars would also be better if Lucas took a step back, I mean why else do you think Return of The Jedi and Empire Strikes Back are so good? Because Lucas didn't direct or write he just worked on special effects and production... which is what he's good at! Then he goes and does everything for the new 3 and they are not as good.
That is not to say they suck as I am a huge Star Wars fan and always will be so I loved all the movies but seriously, someone should just rip that damn script outta Lucas' hand cause he can't write for shit!

I loved Revenge of the Sith. But Star Wars wouldn't be the same without Hayden Christensen playing Anakin Skywalker.

how can you say that as a fan of star wars?! Look at what Lucas has created with star wars.pop culture, movies and video games, movie merchandising wouldn't be the same without star wars, and to rip of its creator is just showing how much NOT a fan of star wars you are. I like star wars a lot, and anything to broaden the star wars universe is a good thing. The fact that Lucas has made a lot of money from it is just a byproduct of expanding an idea he created 30years ago, its the money that allows Lucas to push the bound ires of what is possible in film, video games etc. he can't to all that with leprechaun money or just purely on hope & dreams. Think about it.

As a Star Wars fan for 31 years, the thing I've learned most about George Lucas is that he is a liar.

Say whatever you will.......the story has changed over the years.......1 movie, 3 movies, 9 movies, 6 movies, now animated series, blah, blah blah.

The only thing that we can be sure of is that George Lucas loves money. If he ever decides he doesn't have enough, or wants more, then we'll see more Star Wars.

The glut of Star Wars merchandise proves my point. I was a sucker for 30 years.......over 800 action figures, and thousands of other types of collectibles. I finally wised up and sold it all.
