Fate Of ‘Ghost Rider 2’ Remains Uncertain, Confirms Mendes

“Iron Man 2,” “The Avengers,” “Captain America,” and “Thor.” It’d be hard to pack more awesome in Marvel’s upcoming slate than is already there, especially now that they own their own properties and can cross mingle their franchises.

But what of the titles that aren’t there? Films like “Magneto,” “Spider-Man 4,” and “Ghost Rider 2.” Are they still in the pipeline?

The simple answer, of course, is that Marvel doesn’t own the rights to those films, and that they are going ahead as previously scheduled with other studios.

Or not.

Consider “Ghost Rider 2.” Although producer and former Marvel head honcho Avi Arad claimed last year that they were developing a sequel to the Nic Cage starrer about Johnny Blaze, a hero who is literally hell on wheels, that plan has either stalled or been completely abandoned, said star Eva Mendes, insisting to MTV News that she hasn’t so much as heard even the teensiest rumor about a big-screen follow-up.

Warts and all, it’s not like the first film wasn’t a big success at the box office, scoring over $115 million in its domestic run.

So what gives? Would you like to see a “Ghost Rider” sequel? If so, who would you want to see portrayed? Aqueduct? Zodiak? Blackout? Do you want Nic Cage and Mendes back? Or would you rather Blaze made a cameo in another of those upcoming films? Sound off below.

The beauty of Ghost Rider is more then one person has held the curse. If Nic Cage backs out, not a problem just find somebody to portray the next generation host Dan Ketch.

As for a villain for the next movie, Mephisto is a given. If I were a betting man I would say either Centurious, Vengeance, or Zarathos. Scarecrow could also be an option as he was supposed to be in the first movie but was dropped completly to avoid confusion w/ the Batman villain of the same name.

yeah cage was just brilliant for this role - considering a large percentage of the movie he was fucking cgi.

I liked the first one. It wasn't too serious and was just a fun movie. Of course, I think Cage & Mendes should be back, it's not time for a new rider yet!
