Jan de Bont (Twister, Speed) is set to direct Point Break: Indo, says The Hollywood Reporter.

RGM Entertainment and Essential Entertainment will executive produce this Asia-based follow-up to director Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 original, which starred de Bont's Speed lead Keanu Reeves as an FBI agent casing a gang of surfer bank robbers. The new film will take place 20 years after the disappearance of one of the criminal surfers (Patrick Swayze).

Both the original and sequel are written by W. Peter Iliff. The trade says plot details and possible character reprises have not been disclosed, but the film will shoot in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Taylor Morgan Pictures' Chris Taylor and John Morgan will produce. RGM's Devesh Chetty, Essential's Jere Hausfater and Neil Kaplan, and de Bont will executive produce.

You can't make a sequel to fucking Point Break! Especially now that the 90's are over! The first was an awesome movie and just let it be that. FUCK!

Swayze has cancer and his set to die in the next 6 months, there is no way he'll appear in this film. As for Reeves, well we never know, the first one wasnt that bad for an action picture.

No chance in HELL is Keanu going to do this movie. So I'm betting Swayze shows up (assuming he's able) in a cameo or small suporting role, but otherwise it'll just be practically a remake - more like Point Break: The Next Generation.

** Besides, they already re-did Point Break. Fast and the Furious is practically the EXACT same movie, just with cars instead of surfboards.

This is awesome...I loved Point Break when it was first released and I'm sure 2 will be just as good as long as they have back Patrick & Keanu....but with Patrick being sick we can only wait & see.
