Frank Darabont to Direct "Law Abiding Citizen"

Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile) will direct the thriller "Law Abiding Citizen" starring Gerard Butler for The Film Department, which is selling international rights here.
Production is set to begin on August 18th in Detroit on the low $40 million range story of a criminal mastermind who controls a city from the confines of his prison cell. Butler will play the prosecutor who stands in his way. Kurt Wimmer wrote the screenplay.
This is a surprise move for Darabont, since he has been planning to make "Fahrenheit 451" and Stephen King's "The Long Walk" for as long as I can remember.
