Recognized as a true pioneer in punk rock, the life and death of Joy Division’s lead singer, Ian Curtis, is remembered in the telling film CONTROL, which rocks onto DVD June 3rd direct from The Miriam Collection of The Weinstein Company and Genius Products.
May 18, 1980 was a gloomy day for punk fans everywhere when Ian Curtis took his life.
Inspired by the energy of punk artists such as the Sex Pistols, the English rockers known as Joy Division infiltrated the music scene in the late 1970s with a distinct sound of their own, and Ian Curtis will be forever recognized for his key role in that. Though following the tragic suicide of Curtis, the surviving members regrouped as New Order and went on to achieve great critical and commercial success, CONTROL examines Curtis’ personal ups and downs while with Joy Division that made a lasting impression on the music world.
