Hyam's original film starred Elliot Gould, James Brolin, and a pre-trial O.J. Simpson as astronauts who are pulled from their space vehicle shortly before launch & forced to cooperate in a conspiratorial, simulated landing on the Red Planet. All hell breaks loose when our heroic trio opts out.
The original CAPRICORN ONE featured a score by Jerry Goldsmith; its theme (YouTubed below) would portend his famous theme for TOTAL RECALL 12 year later. Interestingly, RECALL's theme music is often ridiculed as being derivative of Basil Poledouris' 1982 theme for CONAN THE BARBARIAN, which it also evokes to a heavy extent.
