Ben Kingsley Plays The Villain in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Ben Kingsley is set to play the villain in Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer's bigscreen adaptation of the Ubisoft videogame Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

According to Variety, Kingsley portrays Nizam in the fantasy action feature, who plots to kill his brother King Shahrman and blame it on Prince Dastan so he can take the throne. Mike Newell is directing.

Jake Gyllenhaal plays the prince, while Gemma Arterton and Alfred Molina round out the leads.

Production begins in July in Morocco and England. Film is expected to open next year.

    Hmm...interesting. I can see Kingsley playing the villain but I'm still not agreeing with the Jake bit. I guess you never know...It is good to see that the script is completely different from the games. Most people don't understand that it would ruin the mystique of these hit games if they adapted the whole story (from the games) into a live-action featured film. Still, knowing it's Disney and the fact how dark PoP is...ugh. It's frustrating. Universal would have been nice or perhaps WB?
