IESB.net caught up with producers Frank Marshall and Tom Crowley on the red carpet at the Saturn Awards on Tuesday and asked them about the proposed fourth Jason Bourne film that was first mentioned back in February and then said not to be a guarantee in March.
When asked about the possibility of a fourth Jason Bourne film Marshall said, "Absolutely," continuing, "Hopefully we will be shooting next summer for release in 2010.

"There was a fourth book written, but it was not by Mr. Ludlum. So we're probably going to take our own direction and we're working on what that storyline's gonna be right now."

A big selling point on The Bourne Ultimatum was that Bourne was returning home, back to America. When asked about the fourth film Marshall responded, "I think he's headed down south. I think he's headed to South America."

    Let's not get into who's better; Bond or Bourne. I just feel since the films were very loosely based on the novels anyway a fourth wouldn't be a problem... well, actually it would be a slight problem. How good can the fourth installment be? Ultimatum seemed to be the right way to close the darn thing - I personally think it was. As a reader of the Bourne novels (only ones written by Ludlum), I can say it was good enough the way they "ended" things in the films. Now it just feels they are just MILKING IT! Ugh, sometimes you love Hollywood then you despise it at times. But that's the way it is and always will be, the love-hate relationship we have with the film industry.
    People really can't knock on the fact how they went on adapting this to the big screen because it was Ludlum himself who approved of it. I just don't think it's right to milk the dang thing.
    For the record, with Bourne's highly trained background along with his pure ruthless nature, Jason would take out the old 007. :-P

    Bond has over taken these so far since Daniel done Casino Royale! Leave the series, it's a more boring version of Bond! The first was good, second was forgettable and the third was only slightly more interesting than the second. Bond would destroy Bourne so save the money on a different project!
