West: 'Batman movies are too violent'

Original Batman Adam West has revealed that he thinks the current movies are too violent.

The actor, who played the role in the 1960s TV series, said the hit franchise should focus on relationships rather than special effects.

The 79-year-old told the Den Of Geek website: "They’re simply doing their thing, and doing what they think brings the biggest return.

"[But] when I see bits and pieces of the movies, to me they’re too violent, too noisy and they rely too much on the score and sound effects etc, but they’re brilliantly done as far as the CGI is concerned… all those things that they can do in modern times."

He added: "Even in those movies, I would rather see warmer relationships. More meaningful relationships. And more subtle, tongue-in-cheek comedy of some kind. You can go around killing dozens of people, but you’ve got to be sort of funny doing it."

West played the caped crusader in the ABC show for 120 episodes between 1966 and 1968.

Batman was originally a dark character and was meant to be more violent than what other films and cartoons show Batman as, just look at the comics alot of them are dark and violent then they get wattered down every so often West's Batman was that the watered down version, modern day Batman needs to be violent!
