Remember that pointless School of Rock sequel we warned you about a couple weeks ago? Well it’s happening. Paramount Pictures has signed Jack Black to reprise his role as Dewey Finn in School of Rock 2: America Rocks. According to Variety, Mike White’s script follows Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that “delves into the history of rock ‘n’ roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.” I want to believe that this is something more than just a money grab. I want to believe that White and director Richard Linklater, who is also signed on to return, returned because of the story and not just a bundle of cash.

Discuss: Now that you’ve had the chance to read a short plot synopsis, is there any chance School of Rock 2 might be a worthy sequel?

    As I read some of the comments, somebody mentioned a sequel to Nacho Libre as a joke. You jinxed it. Now that you said it, they will make a sequel to that god awful movie. lol

    I really liked the School of Rock movie. However, I think that it's a stretch to have a sequel to the first one. Hey, at least they kept Jack Black on the sequel. lol.

    I think Jack Black is really needing money. But really, those kind of movies are the only ones he can get. You won`t see him in a good drama, thriller, action movie. He barely did good in King Kong and that`s because the wasn`t the main character (thank god). School of rock II? pleaseeeeeeee. Here comes Nacho Libre II surely

  • There are some movies out there that are so good that they sould never have a sequel. And I was wishing that School of Rock was one of those! But aperently they felt the need of a needless sequel!

  • not a worthy sequel...i personally liked school of rock 1 and the end didn't lend itself very well to a sequel, the story closed, the movie concluded...i have to believe that they came back for the money because they pulled that plotline out of their butts...that is my opinion
