John Hancock (Will Smith)
weakness: the word 'asshole'
strength: alcohol
Once popular until he had amnesia. After the incident all he got from his past was a chewing gum and a ticket of Frankenstein movie. All he ever wanted was attention and appreciation from the people he helped. Then he met Rey (Jason Bateman) and become friends. He was sent into prison and there he learned how to manage his strength and to mingle with other people. Rey made him a suit (to be added!:D) Mary (Charlize Theron), Rey's wife was also one of his kind and by the way, she was his wife decades ago before he had amnesia.
Now we're talking, this is what i like bout the movie, the twist. Never thought about it (i mean it's obvious the time Mary met Hancock she knew him but the idea that she also has the power, a big no!) The thing is, Mary didn't come back for him for them to be safe and live a different life. If they were together they will become mortal and of course they will lose their powers. One day Hancock went to a convenience store to buy two bottles of liquor costing $91.10 (shocking? nah, because there was a robbery. (911 to be excat). The guy pulled a gun and shot Hancock. At first he didn't feel anything until he found out that he was bleeding (yes, he's no longer immortal). Until Red (Eddie Marsan) escaped from prison to seek revenge of Hancock and tried to killed him and accidentally shot Mary. But Mary didn't die and so Hancock. Hancock leave and live his life with an eagle (huh? what's with the eagle? i dunno!).
What i want about the movie? the whole story except the eagle. It also made me wonder about Rey's logo of heart (means to change the world) which Hancock drew in the moon. And oh, Hancock was a mess for the people because he's always making a mess whenever he saves someone and cost a million because of his wrong way of helping.
Should I say that he is the sweeper of all mess or the trouble maker? well...can I say BOTH?! He's gonna save the world...whether we like it or not!!
