Maggie Gyllenhaal Supports Heath Ledger Oscar Nod

Maggie Gyllenhaal Supports Heath Ledger Oscar Nod

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL is backing the campaign to have her late THE DARK KNIGHT co-star HEATH LEDGER posthumously honoured with an Oscar.

Christian Bale and Sir Michael Caine have both supported calls for Ledger to receive a gong at next year's (09) Academy Awards for his portrayal of The Joker.

And the actress believes Ledger deserves an award because his role was inspiring to other actors.

She tells WENN, "In order to be a good actor you have to find a place where you are free, but it's very unusual to be absolutely free in the way that he was in this movie.

"It was inspiring working with him. It was such a pleasure.

"In a way I feel funny about thinking about Oscars when he isn't alive, but at the same time I'm a member of the Academy and I would vote for him."

Lol,uh yeah ok nice plug for Facebook there,Um Back to Heath,I think he did a phenomenal job and that's and understatement.I would love to see him get nominated.I'm sorry I have seen too many actors and actressses,I won't name names that ROBBED the deserving actor of the win.Whether Heath would win or not who is to know? But the gesture of nominating him is not only good I feel it's right. It's a nice piece of legacy for Matilda to hold on to. =)

To be honest I think that although the movie is about batman, the joker steals the light from him and becomes the leading man of the movie. So although technically he's not the lead role, the way Heath acted the Joker makes him the main man if that makes sense. He steals the show with his amazing performance.
Any of you who have facebook and suopport Heath getting an oscar go onto faebook and type in "Heath for oscar" or something similar onto the groups search page and you should find the group and join it.

I'll reiterate. I thought Ledger did a great job as the Joker, even when I thought that he would fail, but NO ONE would be saying this if he hadn't killed himself.

Sounds harsh, I know, but it's true.

And, just which Academy Award would he be getting? At best, he'd get Supporting Actor.

Not only that, but they'd have to give an Oscar for make-up, wardrobe, and screenplay because without those things, there is no Joker.

I'm just saying that we are letting emotion take over instead of logic and reason. Hell, the year isn't over yet. What if something comes along with a better supporting actor? Are they just going to Berry and Washington the thing?

NO ONES DESERVES MORE TO WIN AN OSCAR THAN HEATH. HE DID SOMETHING ON THAT SCREEN THAT HAD US MARVELIZED. I CAN EVEN ARGUE THAT AARON ECKHART AND GARY OLDMAN SHOULD DESERVE A BEST SUPPORTING NOD. IF U LOOK AT THIS FILM IT COULD BE A VERY DARK KNIGHT AT THE OSCARS EVEN PICT OF THE YEAR

I'm all for Heath getting an Oscar for his role as the Joker. It was an unbelievable movie. It was very intense. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Best Joker ever. Saw the movie on opening night and still cant get his face out of my head.

Heath Ledger deserves to win. His performance was dark, he was believable and it was one of the best I have ever seen. He truly does deserve to win and I hope he does.

Don't give him an Oscar for the Dark Knight. That would be a slap in the face of every actor that ever deserved one and didn't get one.

He was a very good Joker, even an excellent Joker, but it seriously wasn't Oscar worthy. It's the Joker.

If they want to give him an Oscar, then create a memorial Oscar for him and others that died before their time based on potential and last works.

The Academy Awards are already a joke. Recent recipients are proof of that. Let's not make another mistake based on emotion. Or, do it and know that it isn't that special an honor.

Again, I thought Heath did an excellent job as the Joker, and no one was more skeptical than me about Ledger being able to pull it off.
